'Shades Of Romiley' Oil on Panel, size 16"x 12"
This iconic landmark in the village of Romiley has been on my to do list for some time.
The station was designed by Edward Walters and build around 1862. It's distinctive red brick reflects a gothic revival influence with it's tall chimney's and arch shaped windows. An intricate 3 story building, and a challenge to paint, especially when bringing in to the scene the now 'Platform One' public house, once known as 'The Railway Inn'. And I felt adding the contrast of the take away shop 'Harlequin' on the left gave to painting some balance.
It's a hot mid summers day, shading from the trees opposite falls just short as they spread their shadows across the road cooling selectively. Time for a quick pint to cool off, maybe a chat in the village, or just a bit of shopping to do. Hopefully I have caught a little of this beautiful place I call home
The painting is oil on panel, common size 16" x 12" is priced unframed, but arrangements can be made for framing if this is required. There are no plans for prints for this artwork at this time, so it will be totally unique. A certificate of authenticity as an original artwork is supplied.
