Leaving Whitby

The focal point of this oil painting is the small crab and lobster fishing boat 'Pride and Joy' departing the quayside of Whitby Harbour in North Yorkshire, England.

I visited the town in 2024 with my wife and this beautiful town had a number of scenes that inspired me to create this painting. There is something special about the fisherman of the seas and their vessels, their workplace, their home for days, weeks or even months. It's the adventure and risk beyond the safety of the harbour wall that inspired me to create this scene.

The painting is framed in a wooden grey frame with 2" white mount border, there are no plans for prints for this artwork, so it will be totally unique. A certificate of authenticity as an original artwork is supplied.
