'Buckstones Jump'

One of the most idyllic wild swimming spots in the Lake District. I was asked to do a commission for a gentleman in 2021 who's partner was a big fan of this pool. He supplied me with two reference photo's as I'd never been to this place before. This was the result. I loved capturing the rock textures in detail, the flowing water over the rocks below. The grass and reflections I got to know so well.
After the painting was completed, I took a trip up to see Buckstones Jump in the flesh, it was so surreal visiting a place for the first time, yet I knew it all so well, like I had spent weeks sitting on a rock, studying every detail.
